About 'Swayam', the satellite project:

  • Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) successfully launched the cube-shaped satellite
  • The academic satellite was developed by the students of CoEP and launched along with 19 other satellites by ISRO
  • An initiative for the second satellite by CoEP has been approved by Swayam
  •  This one will work on solar energy and is three times the size of Swayam

Tawde on the feat achieved by students:

  • Tawde was present at the 162-year-old premier institute, an autonomous body of Maharashtra government
  •  He felicitated the faculty and students for the launch of the satellite developed by students
  •  "With Swayam in space, the students and faculty members, who burnt the midnight oil to make this happen, have added another feather in the college's cap. I congratulate the students for their astounding feat," Tawde said
  •  He also said that the government will provide Rs 50 lakh for CoEP's next satellite project
  • "Research work should not get affected by lack of funds. The state government will allot substantial funds for research projects at the college level," he mentioned
